Construction Estimator - Residential Projects - Up to 160K

The Civi Group is collaborating with a prominent general contractor in Boston, renowned for their multi-family projects, to hire a Construction Estimator specializing in residential construction.

In this role, the Construction Estimator will be responsible for daily estimating tasks for construction projects. Responsibilities include performing quantity take-offs, managing costs, communicating with construction teams and subcontractors, preparing RFPs, analyzing bids, and conducting field take-offs. The position requires frequent collaboration with project teams and active participation in RFP preparation and bid analysis.

Compensation:

Salary: Up to approximately $160K based on experience

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the estimation activities for all residential construction projects.
• Prepare cost projections covering labor, materials, and timelines based on project specifications and construction documents.
• Collaborate effectively with project team members.
• Create bid proposals and tender submissions in line with company standards and client expectations.
• Recognize potential cost risks and propose value engineering solutions when appropriate.
• Efficiently use industry-standard software for estimation tasks.
• Track and manage project costs and budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage project scoping, clarification, and pricing efforts.
• Maintain project lists and vendor database.
• Generate estimates through quantity take-offs and subcontractor/vendor quotes.
• Attend site visits and pre-bid meetings.

Skills & Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Engineering, or Construction Management preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of residential estimating experience.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.
• Familiarity with tools such as Bluebeam, Buildertrend, Xactimate, and Procore is preferred but not required.
• Hands-on understanding of residential trades such as carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work is preferred but not required.
• Strong mathematical and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
• Understanding of construction practices, permitting processes, and city regulation.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
