Clariden is currently enjoying growth in its student body size and curricular/co-curricular programming. A new state-of-the-art Upper School STEAM building open in Fall 2022 and Clariden just completed a safety and security project on campus.
About The Position:
The Middle/Upper School Humanities teacher will teach Middle School English classes, with the potential to teach a middle school and/or upper school social studies/history course(s). Additional responsibilities include serving as an advisor for a small group of students, offering a unique elective course or two, and collaborating with the Middle and/or Upper School team. There are additional opportunities to advise student clubs and/or coach academic or athletic teams. This position is for the 2025-2026 school year, and the candidate's employment will begin on August 1, 2025. This is a new position as our faculty and student size continue to grow, and exact courses will be decided amongst the humanities teaching faculty.

Requirements:
- A minimum of a baccalaureate degree or equivalent in English/history/social sciences or equivalent experience within the field of education. Certification is preferred.
- A strong understanding of how adolescents learn and develop; observation, documentation and assessment of students’ work; curriculum development; and professional and instruction practices.
- A strong desire for professional development and a demonstrated growth mindset.
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of the academic subject(s) assigned.
- Ability to instruct and appropriately manage student behavior.
- 3 years of English and/or history teaching experience strongly preferred, but will consider all applications with educational background in English, history, or social sciences.
- Experience with Project-Based Learning (PBL) preferred.
