Job Overview
The Clarion Inn is seeking a Bartender to serve beverages and food to guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner resulting in guest satisfaction. This role also prepares beverages for other servers to supply guests and acts as a cashier for the bar.
Essential Job Functions
- Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promotes and documents drink orders. Mixes, garnishes, and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control.
- Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis. This includes requisitioning and stocking of all beer, wine, spirits and paper products, straws, stirrers, condiments and produce based on projections from the daily functions sheet.
- Manage the bar's liquor and supply inventory by developing purchase and supply orders.
- Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily to ensure product quality.
- Receives payment from guests, makes the change as needed, verifies the validity of charges, records charges, and ensures that vouchers are properly executed in order to balance all money.
- Perform inventories of liquor, beer, wine, and bar supplies and place orders for these goods in accordance with established standards.
- Abide by all State, Federal, and Local Government requirements pertaining to serving alcohol.
- Comply with attendance rules and be available to work a schedule based on the needs of the business which include mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

- Must be willing to pitch in and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.
- Must be willing to work all shifts in the bar and fill in when other members of the bar staff are unable to work
- Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages
- Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnishes, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks and reach overhead to retrieve stock.
- Ability to operate a point of sale system, ability to stand and work in a confined space for long periods of time.
