The Classic Center is seeking a strategic and dynamic Director of Event Services to oversee and elevate our event planning and execution. What You’ll Do

As the Director of Event Services, you will lead the event planning and operations teams, ensuring every detail is executed with precision and excellence. You will serve as the senior event planner, mentor staff, and oversee the coordination of logistics, client communication, and event execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the event services and operations teams, providing training, guidance, and oversight to ensure all events exceed client and guest expectations.
  • Plan, assign, and oversee events from initial client meetings to post-event evaluations.
  • Conduct and lead weekly operations meetings to ensure thorough communication across all departments.
  • Inspire and motivate the team to achieve goals while upholding company values and brand standards.
  • Develop and monitor budgets, purchasing, and expense controls to support financial success.
  • Partner with the General Manager of the Convention Center to recruit, hire, train, and evaluate event planning and event services staff.
  • Oversee equipment inventory and ensure proper distribution and maintenance for event needs.
  • Manage event settlements, invoicing, and financial reporting related to event services.
  • Serve as the Manager on Duty as needed, ensuring smooth event execution and facility operations.
  • Collaborate with educational partners to support student learning opportunities and internship programs.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of life safety protocols and operational procedures.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed to support events.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Minimum of three years of event experience in a multipurpose facility or five years in a comparable role.
  • At least two years of management experience in a similar setting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, event management, or a related field preferred (experience may substitute for education).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Experience in budgeting, revenue management, and event logistics.
  • A passion for delivering outstanding events and exceptional guest experiences.
