About the Role
The Akins Ford Arena at The Classic Center is seeking a Technical Director to lead the production and technical operations of our live events. From concerts and sporting events to large-scale productions, this role ensures top-tier sound, lighting, rigging, and staging while prioritizing safety and efficiency.
You'll collaborate with event planners, oversee technical crews (including IATSE 824), and maintain our state-of-the-art equipment to deliver unforgettable experiences. This position plays a pivotal role in shaping the Arena's technical future while also supporting the Theatre and Convention Center as needed.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee all technical production aspects, including sound, lighting, rigging, and staging.
- Advance technical riders, ensuring all client needs are met efficiently and safely.
- Manage and schedule stage crews, including IATSE 824 technicians.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and industry safety standards.
- Work with event planners and promoters to execute flawless productions.
- Supervise and maintain technical equipment, recommending upgrades and repairs.
- Support facility conversions, including ice floor installations and stage builds.
- Maintain exceptional customer service with all stakeholders and artists.
What We’re Looking For
- 5 years of experience in technical services management, Arena experience preferred.
- Knowledge of rigging, stage lighting, audio systems, and production logistics.
- Ability to read technical drawings, stage plots, and wiring diagrams.
- Strong leadership skills to supervise crews and collaborate across departments.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations, safety protocols, and venue operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Rigging certification (or ability to obtain within a year).
