GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES :
TCA is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Junior High Track and Field Throws Coach to work with student-athletes in the shot put and discus. The ideal candidate will have a passion for developing young athletes, a strong understanding of throwing mechanics, and the ability to create a positive and inclusive environment. This coach will be responsible for teaching the fundamentals of throwing techniques, designing appropriate training programs, and helping athletes improve their performance throughout the season.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Coaching & Skill Development :
Teach and demonstrate proper techniques for the shot put and discus.
Lead throws-specific practices, ensuring athletes are prepared physically and mentally for competition.
Prepare athletes for local meets, including technique refinement and mental preparation.
Ensure that all throwing activities are performed in a safe manner, adhering to best practices in throwing technique and equipment usage.
Coaching certification in track and field or specific throwing events (e.g., USATF, NFHS).
Previous coaching experience, particularly in track and field throwing events (shot put, discus, etc.), is preferred.
Maintain regular communication with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding athlete progress, meet results, and team news.
Maintain accurate records of athletes' attendance, performance, and progress throughout the season.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
EDUCATION :
High school diploma or GED equivalent required
Undergraduate degree preferred
EXPERIENCE :
Experience as a coach at the secondary level is preferred.
