POSITION DESCRIPTION

Title: Audio/Visual School Resource Technician Department: Operations

Date: Updated March 11, 2025 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Work Year: Academic Calendar

Hourly Rate: $17.65. This position will work a minimum of 22 hours per week.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Performs audio visual event support duties in association with all school and student activities.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
Reports to IT Director

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinates audio visual requirements, performs preparation, set-up, and tear-down activities, and provides technical support for all campuses for school and student events.
  • Provides coordinated support and works closely with the Fine Arts Coordinator for all performing arts events.
  • Monitors each school’s event calendar to set-up, operate, and remove audio visual equipment for school activities.
  • Remains adaptable and flexible to respond to a wide range of non-recurring and intermittently scheduled school and student activities.
  • Works closely with the Activities Director, coaches, and office staff to meet student activity event needs efficiently and effectively.
  • Provides event site configuration, management, and coordination with the TCA responsible agent for the event to include the event managers, coaches, custodians, and teachers.
  • Provides audio visual, and technical support for all assemblies, events, and programs.
  • Provides audio visual and electronic support during monthly Board Meetings.
  • Performs basic audio/visual equipment maintenance and repair for all campuses in coordination with IT support.Recommends replacement and additional purchases of audio/visual equipment and conducts research regarding pricing and technical specifics.
  • May be required to carry and respond to a communication device for the purpose of conducting school related business both during and after normal business hours

MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides coordinated support between all campuses as well as for school. interscholastic events, in and out of the chartering district and/or affiliated leagues
  • Provides immediate and direct custodial care for imminent and in-progress events and addresses emergency facility care requirements as necessary.
  • Trains teachers, staff, students, and volunteers on basic operation of audio/visual equipment and mobile computer labs.
  • Performs other duties as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required

EXPERIENCE:

  • Must possess an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience working with audio/visual equipment

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Working understanding of band, drama, theatre, and athletic audio/visual equipment and ability to set up in various venues including auditoriums, classrooms, meeting rooms, and gymnasiums for assemblies and other events.
  • Working knowledge of basic functions of sound and light equipment and ability to turn on, use, and turn off public address systems.
  • Working knowledge of basic mixing of audio/visual equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Possess oral and auditory capacity to enable interpersonal interaction
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, administrators, departments, students, and vendors.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and research a variety of problem solving and fact-finding projects.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.

  • Work hours may vary depending on the needs of the Activities office and specific events, and may include days, evenings, and weekends
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors to support the setup requirements of multiple events simultaneously

  • Frequently lift/carry burdens weighing up to 30 lbs. and push/pull burdens weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Spend equivalent amount of work hours sitting, standing, and walking while performing job duties.
  • Possess visual and auditory capacity to enable the safe operation of machinery
  • Perform job duties involving climbing, stooping, kneeling/bending, crouching, crawling, twisting, and reaching
  • Frequently use eye, hand, and finger coordination to enable the use of a computer, other equipment, and writing utensils

  • DENTAL INSURANCE: Dental insurance is offered through Delta Dental of Colorado. TCA makes a monthly contribution toward the premium for this benefit
  • LIFE INSURANCE/LTD: Employees are provided a $25,000 group term life insurance through The Standard Life Insurance Company and offers Long-term Disability coverage as well. TCA pays the full cost of group term life insurance and long-term disability benefits. Accident and hospital indemnity plans are also available to employees through The Standard, for an additional cost.
  • RETIRMENT PLAN: Administered by Colorado PERA, this is a tax deferred retirement account to which you contribute 11% of your monthly earnings. TCA contributes 20.9% to the PERA pension trust fund on your behalf.
  • VOLUNTARY VISION INSURANCE: EyeMed is the voluntary vision program available to TCA employees.
  • WELLNESS PROGRAM: A voluntary wellness program though Orriant is offered in which employees are eligible to earn an incentive of up to $150 for participation AND achievement of wellness activity goals
  • RETIREMENT OPTIONS: Employees may elect to participate in deferred income for retirement purposes: PERA Plus 401(k) through Empower
  • MEDICAL and DEPENDENT CARE FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNT: This account allows employees to save money for unreimbursed medical expenses or dependent care expenses to be used within the plan year (July to June) on a tax-exempt basis. This reduces your taxable income.
  • TIME OFF COMPENSATION: An employee with 0.5 to 1.0 FTE will receive Staff Leave and Personal Leave. For positions less than 1.0 FTE, leave time will be prorated based on FTE. Our leave program is fully compliant with the Colorado Healthy Families Workplace Act.
  • PRIORITY ENROLLMENT STATUS: Children of staff members 0.4 FTE and above receive priority enrollment of their child/children at The Classical Academy.
