The Clermont Sun has an immediate opening for the position of Sports Reporter. If you love high school sports, are enthusiastic, able to work independently – yet contribute as part of a team - this may be the position for you. We are looking for a sports journalist to join our award-winning weekly publication. This is not a desk job – it’s feet on the ground covering the best of Clermont County!
Responsibilities:
· Read content and correct spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors.
· Rewrite text to make it easier for readers to understand.
· Verify facts cited in material for publication.
· Evaluate submissions from writers to decide what to publish.
· Develop story and content ideas according to the publication’s style and editorial policy.
· Allocate space for the text, photos, and illustrations that make up a story or content.
Preferred candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, and experience covering sports. However, recent graduates with intern or high school experience are encouraged to apply, as this is an excellent opportunity to gain experience while learning the newspaper business. Working knowledge of AP Style, and Social Media Platforms are required. Champion Media offers a full benefits package including health, dental, vision, paid sick leave and vacation time.
