Job Description:
The Assistant Superintendent will support all aspects of golf course maintenance under the guidance of the Golf Course Superintendent. This role encompasses a range of responsibilities including renovation projects, landscaping, crew supervision and training, irrigation maintenance, and pesticide/fertilizer application.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate daily scheduling of crew duties.
Perform supervisory duties to support the golf maintenance team.
Supervise and assist in pesticide and fertilizer applications.
Operate all equipment associated with golf maintenance.
Identify problems and recommend solutions to the Superintendent.
Maintain and inspect golf course grounds, clubhouse grounds, landscaping, and maintenance equipment as assigned.
Conduct and maintain inventory control practices.
Assist in hiring golf and landscape personnel.
Train employees in all aspects of golf course operations.
Attend approved conferences, workshops, and meetings to stay current with industry developments.
Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
2- or 4-year degree in Turf Management or Agronomy.
1-2 years of experience or 2 internships in Golf Maintenance.
Experience in managing cool season turf in the transition zone is a plus.
Valid driver’s license.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to supervise and train employees.
Sound water management skills/knowledge.
Ability to identify pest threats on the golf course.
Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
Knowledge of the game of golf and its rules.
Ability to manage the facility in the Superintendent's absence.
High attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.
Ability to work weekends and holidays with little or no notice.
Pesticide License preferred.

Salary : $51,000 - $75,000
