JOB SUMMARY : The Head Equipment Technician works independently while performing major and minor mechanical repairs on small and heavy equipment used in golf course maintenance. He / she performs diagnostic activities for vehicle and operating equipment repair and ensures that all equipment is operational and in good working condition.
JOB DUTIES :
- Sharpens and adjusts cutting reels and blades within a few thousands of an inch.
- Performs maintenance and mechanical repairs and maintenance management techniques in order to maintain a variety of commercial lawn, construction, and renovations equipment with an emphasis on small engine repairs.
- Inspects and diagnoses mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic defects and problems in small and heavy equipment, and other mechanical equipment, including tractors, backhoes, mowers, weedeaters, chainsaws, scooters, edgers, concrete cutters, and related equipment.
- Performs accurate measurements and tolerances.
- Analyzes vehicle and equipment failures; determines problems and causes; recommends solutions.
- Performs a variety of minor and major vehicle and equipment repair including engine overhaul, chassis and suspension repair, air conditioning repair, and electrical repair activities.
- Reads and interprets blueprints and schematic, wiring diagrams, hydrostatic systems and components.
- Operates shop machinery, including lathes, presses, grinders, and blasters.
- Estimates time, materials, and equipment required for jobs assigned; requisitions materials as required.
- Assists in the general maintenance and cleaning of the shop.
- Makes frequent field calls and repairs equipment on site.
- Manages shop facility to include keeping inventory of tools and supplies, shop safety and cleanliness, and accurate records on equipment and materials.
- Assists with supervision by providing group leader oversight and training to staff in the proper operation and care of equipment.
- Maintains repair and preventive maintenance records.
- Makes emergency repairs to equipment when needed.
- Ensures all equipment has been serviced, tested and cleaned prior to use.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
