POSITION SUMMARY
This role will be involved in product development, sustaining and laboratory testing projects; interface with suppliers, Controls Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Lab personnel and relevant internal ClimateMaster Personnel. The DAQ Software/Hardware Engineer will employ a balanced combination of analytical techniques and experimental methods
and will have full access to the test laboratory and model shop facilities. The role will have hands-on experience with the selection and operation of DAQ hardware and software designs for psychrometric test labs. Our facilities use National Instruments hardware and LabVIEW software. The role will be designing new control algorithms using the built-in PID functions in LabVIEW for lab conditioning equipment. DAQ programming using required test standards,
select DAQ hardware as well as implement and maintain existing testing software programs. They will work in a
cross-functional team environment and will closely collaborate with the ClimateMaster Engineering and Laboratory staff. This role will have knowledge and experience in the areas of HVAC systems, experimental techniques, report generation and sequencing as they pertain to the testing environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions Statement(s)
• Provide guidance, as the leader, to technicians regarding difficult technical or operational issues necessary for them to be an adequate backup for the day-to-day tasks that will not require you, as the leader, to perform
• Manage/maintain DAQ inventory (tools, components, equipment, software)
• Implement and verify updates to LabVIEW programming and NI hardware as needed
• Responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, developing, automating, and maintaining the technical and management aspects of hardware and software testing tasks
• Document validation of new and existing hardware and software before released to the testing team
• Evaluate, design, and assist in acquisition and fabrication of DAQ infrastructure, and deployment of those systems
• Participate in NPD and technology integration programs, sustaining and cost reduction initiatives that will require Lab testing support
• Interface with vendors
• Qualify controls, sensors, and electrical components, employing advanced analytical methods and experimental techniques needed for validation in the test cell environment
• Support/assist in analytical studies employing state-of-the-art testing tools
• Support/assist in the generation of technical specifications, summary reports and standard work instructions needed for the technicians running DAQ programs for testing purposes

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering with 5 years’ experience or combination of
Associates degree in Engineering technology with minimum of 10 years’ experience or equivalent industry
work experience.
Experience:
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a relevant field is required.
Computer Skills:
• Experience with state-of-the-art simulation tools.
• Familiar with computer programming languages.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office suite products.
• Familiarity with the engineering level LabVIEW/NI and other data acquisition software and equipment.
Certificates & Licenses:
Certified LabVIEW Architect
Other Requirements:
• Knowledge of the fundamentals of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, heat exchanger design;
Knowledge of air management & aeroacoustics and structural analysis. Certified LabVIEW Architect would
be a plus.
• Experience with preparing and reading controls electrical / electronic schematics and drawings, and
sequence of operations.
• Experience testing and troubleshooting electronic equipment; Familiarity with HVAC systems and
applications, electrical design and controls theory, Good working knowledge of Digital and Analog
Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Power Supplies, Power Analyzers, Data loggers, Thermocouples,
volt/amp/resistance meters etc.
