POSITION SUMMARY
This role will work in the New Product Development (NPD) team and will be responsible for design, development,
and implementation of commercial HVAC products that meet or exceed best-in-class performance and reliability
targets across multiple platforms and product families, as well as manufacturing support for existing products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Provide measurable contribution to NPD projects and sustaining initiatives.
• Manage individual projects throughout the complete product development cycle.
• Design, optimize and qualify HVAC systems employing advanced analytical methods and experimental
techniques.
• Lead product qualification and agency compliance test programs.
• Conduct analytical studies employing state-of-the-art simulation tools.
• Ensure design quality, supporting your calculations and design proposals.
• Support manufacturing, sales & marketing, quality, and supply chain functions.
• Interface with vendors, customers, and field personnel.
• Conduct presentations for technical and business personnel.
• Document product designs by preparing bills of material, drawings, and product change notifications.
• Interface with regulatory agencies and test agencies.

solutions. Translates conceptual engineering designs into tangible solutions; leveraging an appropriate
level of risk.

expectations within the team. Represents project team within Engineering – Can speak for the team
technically.
• Leadership & Initiative – Guides and trains less experienced engineers. Acceptable interpersonal skills
and emotional intelligence. Exercises considerable latitude and technical judgement in deciding work
methods. Provides insight and feedback on models, standards and monitors exceptions.
• Technical Knowledge & Planning – Is knowledgeable in area of expertise. Writes specifications for
products, processes, or features. Defines, plans & promotes project work. Has a good understanding of the
product portfolio, function, and components within the subsystem.
• Business Knowledge – Knowledgeable about the industry and market, channel strategy and go-to market
strategy. Applies knowledge of customer needs into solutions. Knows the customer base, product
application and competing solutions. Understands the complexity of the supply chain.
• Teamwork – Works well independently or within a team context. Ability to develop working relationships
with department leaders within the business.
• Adaptability/Flexibility – Adapts to change, is open to new ideas, takes on new responsibilities, handles
pressure, adjusts plans to meet changing needs.
Education:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Preferred emphasis on HVAC system design or
thermal sciences.
Experience:
• 5 years design & project experience preferred.
Computer Skills:
• Experience with state-of-the-art simulation tools.
• Familiar with computer programming languages.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office suite products.
Certificates & Licenses:
• EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Certification – Universal, is a plus.
Other Requirements:
• Knowledge of HVAC system design and applications; familiarity with the systems component design,
integration, and interactions.
• Familiarity with the New Product Development (NPD) process, Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and Design
for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
• Knowledge of the fundamentals of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and heat exchanger
design.
• Hands-on skills and experience in working with laboratory equipment, test stands and instrumentation.
• Knowledge of industry standards and agency compliance.
• Knowledge of air management & aeroacoustics and structural analysis.
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods used in HVAC&R field; industrial experience is a plus but not
required.
• Familiarity with system controls, sequence of operations and electrical wiring methods.
• Familiarity with data acquisition, advanced experimental techniques, instrumentation, calibration,
measurement systems, uncertainty analysis and DoE concepts.
