POSITION SUMMARY:
The Regulatory Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring that heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems comply with all relevant regulations and standards. They will be involved with NP projects, and existing projects to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local regulations. They will be responsible for ensuring the company’s products stay current with the applicable listing agencies. They will plan testing of products to ensure compliance is always current on the product portfolio.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure HVAC systems meet all local, state, and federal regulations.
- Technical Support: Provide regulatory support for engineering projects, including reviewing technical data and making recommendations.
- Testing and Evaluation: Create and review technical test plans and interact with regulatory agencies to address compliance questions.
- Documentation: Prepare technical documentation and system reports for compliance and maintenance records.
- Collaboration: Work with other engineers, architects, and construction project managers to integrate and optimize HVAC systems in building designs.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Oversee regular maintenance and repairs, and troubleshoot issues related to air quality, system inefficiencies, and mechanical malfunctions.
- Maintain quality service by following organization standards.
- Support NPD (New Product Development) initiatives, including failure mode and effect analysis, advanced predictive engineering tools, performance testing and analysis, and agency certifications.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure new products are optimized for regulatory acceptance.
- Actively participate in new product development team meetings and gate reviews.
Skills & Abilities:
Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Certifications: Professional certifications from recognized bodies such as the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) are highly regarded.
Experience:
- Mid-Level: 5 years of Mechanical engineering experience preferred.
- HVAC Industry experience preferred
Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in advanced modeling and predictive analyses a plus (FEA, CFD, etc.)
- Working familiarity with regulatory entities including UL, ETL, AHRI, and ASHRAE preferred.
- Skilled with Microsoft Office suite products
Certificates & Licenses:
- Lean or Six Sigma certificates and training preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Knowledge of HVAC system design and applications
- Knowledge of new product development, design for manufacturability, and Six Sigma lean processes a plus.
- Knowledge of project management is a plus.
