POSITION SUMMARY:
The Mechanical Engineer will perform technical and administrative duties relating to identifying and
implementing process improvements and design changes to increase efficiency and reduce overall cost. This position
will work with the organization’s engineering teams to evaluate product designs, engineering process and the
engineering workflow to identify areas for improvement. The Engineer will build expertise in the organizations process
of the release of build packages for high-mix production, continuous improvement, and flow optimization for a value
stream. The individual will be experienced in the organizations processes for developing new products from concept
to launch and into production.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
• Develop a deep understanding of the derivative order launch process from specification/order initiation to
build and ship.
• Develop a deep understanding of the org’s process to model parts and assemblies utilizing Pro-Engineer and
Windchill PLM Software and how those tools integrate with other company departments and processes.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure products are optimized for manufacturability, installation, and field
service.
• Review process flow of major phases from Quote-to-Cash to ensure clarity and consistency of data and
deliverables
• Analyze value-added processes, mitigating any non-value-adding contributions
• Drive cost improvement by removing waste and exploring material and process alternatives
• Streamline and document process flow to help accommodate implementation of updated ERP
• Reduce process tact time through removal of non-value-adding or redundant actions or deliverables
• Help to develop and maintain KPI’s, helping to trend facets of quality and tailor responses to combat
downward trends
• Work with multiple departments to ensure successful communication of critical details affecting quality As

• Generate cost savings ideas through various activities such as supplier / in house workshops and
benchmarking activities to ensure quality components are selected at a cost-effective cost.
• Review customer expectations (VOC) and specifications to determine areas of opportunity in product
standards
• Help facilitate organization-wide efforts to install and make permanent a climate where employees
continuously improve their ability to provide on demand products and services that customers will find of a
particular value
• Utilize Failure Mode and Effect Analysis to help identify potential contributors to failure that should be
addressed in the continued development of the process.
• Develop tools for ease and consistency of transcribing or communicating data across multiple departments,
reducing likelihood of errors and increasing awareness
• Utilize the Six Sigma approach to problem solving through tools such as PDCA, DMAIC and LEAN
philosophies
• Empower all employees to have positive input on improving the quality of their task

SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. MS degree Preferred.
Experience: High:10 years of Mechanical engineering experience preferred.
Computer Skills:
• Proficient in 3D Modeling Software
• Experience with ERP and MRP systems
• Experience with analytical software like FEA, CFD and other analysis tools.
• Experience with DAQ Lab software and equipment test methods
• Advanced with Microsoft Office suite products.
Certificates & Licenses: Lean or DMAIC Six Sigma background preferred.
Other Requirements:
• Working familiarity with regulatory entities including UL, ETL, AHRI, NEC, and ASHRAE preferred
• Electrical and Electronics knowledge a strong plus.
• Understanding elements of Product Cost a strong plus.
• Introduction to Project Management a strong plus.
