What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Lead - Controls Software position at THE CLIMATE CONTROL GROUP INC?
POSITION SUMMARY:
This role will work in the CCG Controls Software team and will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of control software to support residential and commercial HVAC products that meet or exceed best-in-class performance and reliability targets across multiple platforms and product families, as well as manufacturing support for existing products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Essential Functions Statement(s):
- Lead several NPD programs, sustaining, and cost reduction initiatives as well as manage projects throughout the complete product development cycle
- Develop appropriate firmware/software designs, product qualification, agency certifications, design documentation, etc.
- Support system design engineering, product engineering, manufacturing, sales & marketing, quality, and supply chain functions
- Interface with vendors, customers, and field personnel
- Lead design, optimization, and qualification of HVAC systems employing advanced analytical methods and experimental techniques
- Assume responsibility for reliability growth and productivity improvement opportunities
- Generate technical specifications, summary reports, and standard work instructions
- Evaluate new technologies as they apply to existing functions.
- Conduct presentations for key company stakeholders, senior engineering, and business leadership personnel

SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical/electronic engineering or computer science required. MS Preferred. Preferred emphasis in electronic controls system design/theory.
Experience: 7 years of engineering experience preferred.
Computer Skills:
- Comprehensive experience using Integrated Development Environments (MP Lab, STM32CubeIDE, etc.)
- Comprehensive experience with Programming languages (C, C , assembly, Python, and Visual Basic)
- Experience with Version Control systems (Git, Vault, Apache, etc.)
- Familiar with Microsoft Office suite products.
- Familiar with embedded operating systems, including Linux, etc.
Certificates & Licenses: None required.
Other Requirements:
- Intermediate knowledge of control system design and applications, control theory, and PID design and tuning.
- Intermediate knowledge of the sequence of operations, software specifications, and electrical wiring methods.
- Hands-on skills and experience in working with laboratory equipment, test stands, and instrumentation.
- Experience with the New Product Development (NPD) process, Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
- Experience with communication protocols (BACnet and Modbus)
Knowledge of manufacturing methods used in the HVAC&R field; industrial experience is a plus but not required.
