Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Shop Assistant to actively contribute in the operations of our manufacturing facility. Manufacturing experience and understanding "Flow" and "Lean" methodology are a plus. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to follow procedures and make improvements in their day to day work experience so that production goals are met efficiently and safely. As a Shop Assistant you will support the Shop Lead and follow their direction as they are responsible for guiding the shop team in assembly line tasks, utilizing hand and power tools, and maintaining high standards of quality throughout the production process.
Duties
- Participate in daily operations on the assembly line, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and production schedules.
- Be an active team member by training in the use of hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
- Work effectively in the fabrication and assembly of products, ensuring quality standards are met.
- Keep workflow and work effectively to optimize productivity.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and work areas to maintain safety and efficiency.
- Operate forklift for material handling within the warehouse as needed.
- Collaborate with Shop Lead to implement process improvements and resolve any operational issues.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or factory environment including CNC and edge-bander is preferred.
- General mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and other machinery relevant to production tasks.
- Experience operating forklifts is a plus; certification may be required.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and management.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
