Overview

The Club at Twin Lakes is a TKo Golf Destination. The Club at Twin Lakes Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the maintenance, operations and management of the golf course and surrounding grounds. This individual manages all agronomic and maintenance practices, participates in all daily agronomic maintenance, required labor and construction while conserving and protecting natural resources. Further, this individual will lead and inspire a crew and manage all administrative tasks associated with this responsibility.

General Responsibilities

· Supervise and maintain golf course conditions and any applicable renovations ensuring an exceptional playing experience for all guests

· Take an active role in day-to-day course maintenance efforts and initiatives including direct operation of mowers, sprayers, and all heavy equipment as required particularly during shoulder and off–peak months where staffing levels are adjusted seasonally

· Lead the crew regarding all maintenance related responsibilities. This will include but not be limited to assigning tasks, building the schedule, managing the labor and related expenses according to budgeted guidelines, and providing on site guidance and support as needed.

· Support the Golf Course Mechanic in all care, repair, and preventative maintenance of golf course equipment while ensuring its safe, working order.

· Oversee irrigation system maintenance, startup/winterization, repairs, preventative maintenance, and repairs to pump station and ensure efficient operation of all parts and processes.

· Provide professional advice, opinions, assistance and services to the facility’s on-site management team as well as the TKo Golf Executive Team

· Participate in all management team meetings, planning sessions, budget forecasting, and other responsibilities where applicable.

· Develop spray schedules, treatment plans, short and long range planning, and establish and submit for approval all capital expense needs.

· Assist in any aspects of budgeting, AP/AR related tasks, and additional strategic planning where required.

· Lead with the highest level of professionalism, encouragement and honesty helping create an environment of trust, accountability, and professional growth for all.

Reporting

The golf course superintendent reports directly to The Club at Twin Lakes General Manager with additional reporting to representatives of TKo Golf.

Typical Functions

The golf course superintendent assumes the responsibility of the management of and maintenance of The Club at Twin Lakes which may include but not be limited to:

· The golf course

· Maintenance equipment and golf carts

· Open spaces, clubhouse surrounds, wooded areas, unused acreage and areas bordering natural areas and/or the property perimeter

· Sod farm and nursery green as applicable.

Additional Functions

· Supervision of and consultation with any construction, renovation and/or reconstruction project where required, whether performed by maintenance staff or outside contractors.

· Lifting equipment and products up to fifty pounds on a regular basis and working in physically challenging environments for long periods of time in the hot or cold elements

· Executing irrigation work, digging irrigation and electrical ditches, installing fencing and pavers, working on irrigation pumps, cutting and removing trees, grinding tree stumps, and other construction and renovation related duties

· Snow removal, salt application for winter maintenance

· Handling heavy pallets of sod, bags of seed and fertilizer, and delivering/digging/removing sand in sand bunkers and for executing aerification

· Prepare the annual budgets for the maintenance and capital improvement of The Club at Twin Lakes. The superintendent helps formulate the annual maintenance and capital budgets so as to implement and adhere to club/ownership guidelines established in accordance with the long-range plan and defined maintenance standards.

· Interviews, hires, trains, and supervises staff of employees for the purpose of maintaining the golf course and surrounding areas. The superintendent has authority to terminate employment of subordinates.

· Plans all maintenance and project work, applying his or her agronomic and administrative expertise to achieve the agreed-upon maintenance standards and long-range goals.

· Oversees the scheduling and routing of personnel and equipment to accomplish the work in addition to doing work daily as a member-leader of the crew. The superintendent frequently inspects the golf course and related areas to evaluate how well management standards are being achieved and to effect changes in management programs.

· Composes and implements annual spraying schedules, aeration schedules, nutrient programs, conservation initiatives, and any weekly/monthly/quarterly applications or efforts that coincide with required industry and course specific standards

· Acquires equipment and supplies necessary supplies to maintain the golf course and other properties. The superintendent is responsible for inventory control and oversees the equipment maintenance programs. The superintendent approves all expenditures and exercises cost control measures to keep, as nearly as possible, operating and capital expenses in line with the approved budgets.

· Keeps accurate and complete records on payroll, inventory, weather data, maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, etc.

· Communicates regularly with other members of the top management group to discuss activities, goals, plans and guest input

Employment Standards

· Two or four-year degree in Turfgrass Management and at least five years of industry related field experience.

· Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices; a working knowledge of golf facility construction principles, practices and methods, and a thorough understanding of the rules and strategies of the game of golf.

· High degree of knowledge of turf disease and the common solutions to those challenges while remaining aware of all new techniques and industry trends in turf health.

· A high degree of administrative, time management and staff management ability, especially in the areas of effective problem solving and high integrity decision making.

· Excellent oral and written communications skills in addition to thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook)

· Knowledge of current federal, state and local laws and regulations affecting the management of golf course operations (including, but not limited to, employment, safety and environmental standards, laws and regulations)

· Attends certification classes, workshops, trade shows, professional development events and industry training sessions or seminars to stay current with any and all trends and technologies that are required to maintain standards of excellence.

· Requires current state certification or licensing as a pesticide handler and for nutrient handling as well as current possession or willingness to acquire spray licenses and related permits.

· Possesses a courteous, hospitality-centered approach with co-workers and guests and is honest, hardworking, team-oriented, and dedicated to achieving financial and service-related goals.
