The position we are brewing:

We are seeking an Industrial Engineer to be based at our Roasting and Distribution Plant (RAD) in Camarillo, CA

You will be responsible for optimizing production processes, ensuring efficient utilization of resources, and improving overall productivity and quality. Your role will involve analyzing the RAD's operations, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and streamline workflows. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence and contribute to the continuous improvement of RAD and co-packer facility’s manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

Process Analysis and Optimization:

• Conduct in-depth analysis of production processes, workflows, and systems to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement
• Analyze installed capacity, Identify bottlenecks and advise management to help reach maximum utilization of Roasting and Distribution facility
• Conduct cost utilization studies to arrive at optimum conversion cost and help measure actual cost of production per pound (of Coffee).
• Develop and implement optimum strategies to enhance productivity, reduce production costs, and improve overall operational efficiency
• Conduct efficiency and utilization audits of RAD and co-packers.

Workforce Planning and Production Scheduling:

• Collaborate with production managers and planners to optimize workforce utilization and production scheduling.
• Create and maintain production schedules that align with demand forecasts and ensure timely delivery of coffee products.

Time and Motion Studies:

• Conduct time and motion studies to analyze work methods, standardize processes, and set appropriate production targets.
• Identify opportunities to improve the ergonomics of workstations to enhance employee efficiency and reduce the risk of injuries.

Lean Manufacturing Implementation:

• Introduce lean manufacturing principles and methodologies to eliminate waste, reduce lead times, and optimize inventory management.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement within RAD through training and implementation of lean tools and techniques.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

• Gather and analyze production data to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and evaluate the effectiveness of process improvement initiatives.
• Prepare regular reports to management highlighting progress, challenges, and opportunities for further optimization.

Capital Investment and Project Management:

• Evaluate the need for new equipment, technology, or process upgrades to improve production efficiency and capacity.
• Oversee the implementation of capital projects, ensuring timely completion within budgetary constraints.

Health and Safety Compliance:

• Work in compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
• Identify potential safety hazards and implement measures to mitigate risks.

Your Ingredients:

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or a related field (required).
• Practicing Industrial Engineer with 5 plus years proven experience within the industry preferably in a manufacturing environment with exposure to food/beverage production a plus.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Project management experience with a track record of successful project implementations.
• Familiarity with quality control and assurance processes.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance.
