The Collective Group, LLC, was founded in 2019 as a community to connect and support entrepreneurs. We support our members, all small business owners, through networking events, workshops, artisan markets & other events. Additionally, in 2024, we launched our nonprofit, The Collective Events, Inc., through which we host public events that give back to the community.
About The Position
The Market Assistant (MA) will work closely with our team in all aspects the Farmed & Forged Producers Only Market (FF). They will work the market from open to close as scheduled and will be in regular communication with our team via text, phone and/or email throughout the week as needed. The MA will be required to work scheduled FF shifts and attend team meetings when requested. Meetings will sometimes be held in person and sometimes virtually. Hours may vary depending on our schedule. This is a temporary position for the duration of the FF market season only.
Qualifications
- Works well in large groups of diverse people in a fast-paced environment
- Self motivated and works well in a team environment
- A positive attitude and excellent communication skills are a must
- Passion for small businesses and our local community
- Available to work in Michigan City on Saturdays, and La Porte on Sundays (will not be required to work both markets every weekend)
Tasks will include
Communication
- Communicate pertinent information about market to necessary parties (including, but not limited to, vendors, nonprofits, members, our team, etc.)
- Keeping team up-to-date on all things happening at market
- Documenting information about market and vendors (tracking SNAP purchases, updating spreadsheets, logging donation information, incident reports, etc.)
Event Work
- Help recruiting/finding vendors
- Help mark spaces/set up for event
- May help with social media during event
- Work during event (including, but not limited to, helping vendors set up booths/tents, working TC booth, setting up road barricades, clean up, collecting donations, moving picnic tables, taking photos, answering vendor and shopper questions, etc.)
- MUST BE ABLE TO LIFT AT LEAST 50LBS

Pay: From $13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 15 per week
