Position Overview: The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) Club Crew Team is seeking a passionate and dedicated Co-Coach to join our team. As an Co-Coach, you will play a vital role in fostering the development of both novice and experienced rowers, ensuring a balance of competitive spirit and enjoyment. This position is ideal for individuals committed to student-athlete development, and eager to contribute to the growth and success of our team.
About TCNJ Club Crew: The TCNJ Club Crew Team is a dynamic, student-run organization under the Recreation and Wellness department. Our team competes in 2-3 regattas per season and practices four days a week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 5 am to just before 7 am at Mercer Lake.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the fellow Co-Coach in planning and conducting practices on Mercer Lake.
- Provide technical coaching to rowers, focusing on skill development and improvement.
- Utilize wakeless launches from PNRA/Mercer for on-water coaching.
- Teach rowing fundamentals to novice rowers.
- Collaborate with the student-run Executive Board to support team operations and activities.
- Foster a team culture that balances competitiveness with fun and camaraderie.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a supportive training environment.
Qualifications:
- Experience in rowing, either as a coach or athlete, is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work early morning hours and commit to the team's practice schedule.
- Enthusiasm for working with college students and promoting their development.
- Ability to pass a background check conducted by the College upon hiring.
- Ability to drive a trailer/truck recommended
