Job Description / Summary : The College of St. Scholastica invites applications to join our entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. Applicants with and without a Physical Therapy degree will be considered. We are seeking a full-time core faculty member for an 11-month appointment; rank and salary commensurate with experience. Our DPT program is committed to the education and preparation of entry-level practitioners who are dedicated to meeting society's healthcare needs with special consideration for rural communities. Program graduates are recognized as leaders in the provision of evidence-based practice that is compassionate, ethical, and legal. The DPT program has a strong history, accredited originally in 1976 and ongoing by CAPTE. The DPT program is committed to active collaboration with area clinics and facilities to provide an optimal environment for the development of strong entry-level clinicians known for their problem-solving skills and adaptability. Unique program features include a human cadaver lab used for anatomy and neuroscience, access to the state-of-the-art St. Scholastica Simulation Center and resources, an onsite teaching and learning clinic, and Sensorimotor Behavior Lab. The Sensorimotor Behavior Lab features a 12 Camera Qualisys Motion Capture System, 4 integrated AMTI force plates, wireless EMG, and a HUMAC Norm Isokinetic Dynamometer, allowing for independent research activities and integration of biomechanics concepts into physical therapy education courses. Required Qualifications : Academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, ScD, DSc, etc.). Collegial and inclusive approach to work. Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching at the graduate and / or professional student level. Contemporary expertise in an area of movement science or practice. Preferred Qualifications PhD in Musculoskeletal Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Anatomy, Physiology, Neuroscience, or related field. A history of scholarly productivity. Physical therapist applicants must hold an active, unrestricted PT license and be eligible for licensure in Minnesota. One or more of the following skills / experiences : Technical skills with motion capture tools such as motion analysis, force platforms, virtual reality, and electromyography. Teaching and research experience incorporating motion analysis equipment to investigate movement patterns in healthy, aging, and pathological populations. Experience with dissection-based teaching medical gross anatomy and neuroanatomy Experience supervising students with cadaver dissection. Experience in teaching related disciplines in anatomical sciences (e.g., physiology, systems pathology, biomechanics). Experience with curriculum development and the creation of educational materials. Experience teaching research related coursework and supervising student research projects A history of mentoring research project development and execution. Key Responsibilities : An ideal candidate would lead and develop the biomechanics lab, contribute to undergraduate and graduate program teaching and student mentorship on biomechanics, and increase opportunities for graduate students and faculty to conduct research in the biomechanics lab. Teaching assignments related to the applicant’s qualifications and experience. Foster a positive classroom environment and use the course management system to optimize student success. Collaborate with core and adjunct faculty to meet program outcomes related to student achievement. Advise and mentor DPT students. Participate in the admissions and enrollment process. Effectively assess and evaluate student academic and behavioral progress. Participate in curriculum development and review, program assessment, and strategic planning. Contribute to equity, diversity, and inclusive initiatives and practices. Contribute to decisions on budget expenditures that affect the program. Participate in professional development activities that promote expertise in areas of teaching or other responsibilities. Meet the scholarship expectations of CAPTE. Provide service to the institution and profession / discipline. Contribute to faculty governance by participating in meetings and serving on committees. Comply with college policies and expectations as found in the CSS Faculty Handbook.
