Summary:The Director of Domestic Recruitment and Outreach is an integral member of the admissions team responsible for daily management of key initiatives including but not limited to territory management, travel planning, off-campus events, and initiatives to enroll students from the variety of backgrounds that The College is committed to serving. This position supervises administrative and student staff whose primary responsibilities involve recruitment activities for special-interest groups. They may also serve as the liaison to key campus partners and organizations such as athletics, alumni, and POSSE Scholars. Essential Departmental Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the supervision of territory managers (all counseling staff) and staff working with campus partners and key constituents, including community-based organizations, athletics, alumni, and counselors, to achieve enrollment goals.
  • Collaborates with Admissions/Enrollment leadership to develop data-driven territory and travel strategies, providing staff training and management.
  • Establishes annual territory assignments and goals.
  • Coordinates annual communication and outreach efforts to recruit talented students from a varied cross section of communities.
  • Leads efforts to cultivate awareness and partnerships with community-based organizations and partners.
  • Supports training of all enrollment staff members regarding messaging and cultural competency.
  • Liaisons with alumni engagement office and co-coordinates alumni volunteer activities and off-site yield receptions.
  • Serves as member of final review committee for application and scholarship evaluation.
  • Manages a recruitment territory, including interviewing, application review, communication/outreach, counselor cultivation, and recruitment presentations/travel.
  • Advises prospective students and families regarding the college admission and financial aid processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university (Masters preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for recruitment purposes.
  • Minimum of five years of direct or related admissions experience.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective critical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Appreciates and pays attention to details and unique strategies when recruiting young adults and their family members and advising them about the college search and financial aid processes.

Knowledge:

  • Ability to work independently, showing ample initiative, but also be an effective contributor to the team.
  • Possesses strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient and adaptable with technology including Microsoft Office suite and computer work.
  • Previous work with CRM such as Slate is highly preferred.

Abilities:

  • Demonstrates cultural competency.
  • Demonstrates effective professional diplomacy on and off campus.
  • Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates high ethical standards in handling managerial decisions and sensitive information within the enrollment leadership team.

Work Environment:

  • Position requires the ability to travel unassisted throughout the United States by various means of transportation and in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the staff member is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The individual must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision.
