Job Summary:
The College Preparatory and Leadership Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Middle and High School Choir Teacher to lead our choral program. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for vocal music education, a commitment to student growth, and the ability to create a positive and inclusive musical environment. This role includes directing middle and high school choirs, teaching vocal techniques, and preparing students for performances and competitions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a standards-based choral curriculum for middle and high school students.
- Teach vocal technique, music theory, sight-singing, and performance skills.
- Direct school choirs and coordinate concerts, festivals, and community performances.
- Create a positive, engaging classroom environment that fosters musical excellence and personal growth.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners and skill levels.
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and community partners to support student success.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with families.
- Participate in school-wide events, staff meetings, and professional development.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (required).
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 (required for licensure eligibility).
- Eligible for a teaching license or currently licensed in Music or Choral Education in the state of North Carolina.
Additional Requirements:
- Strong vocal music background and conducting experience.
- Demonstrated success working with middle and/or high school students.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to inspire students and build a strong, inclusive choir program.
