Job Summary:
The College Preparatory and Leadership Academy is seeking a knowledgeable and innovative Middle and High School Computer Science Teacher to lead and grow our computer science program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology education, experience teaching programming and computer science principles, and the ability to inspire students through engaging, hands-on instruction. This position includes teaching middle and high school courses in computer science and related technology fields.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement a standards-based computer science curriculum for grades 6–12.
- Teach a range of topics such as programming (e.g., Python, Java, HTML/CSS), computer systems, data structures, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.
- Promote computational thinking, problem-solving, and digital literacy in the classroom.
- Prepare students for participation in technology competitions, coding clubs, and certification opportunities.
- Create an engaging classroom environment that supports all learners.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate technology and computer science across disciplines.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with families.
- Participate in school events, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (required).
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 (required for licensure eligibility).
- Eligible for a teaching license or currently licensed in Computer Science, Technology Education, or a related field by the state Department of Education.
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of computer science education standards and best practices.
- Experience teaching middle and/or high school students preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
- Familiarity with educational technology tools and platforms.
