What are the responsibilities and job description for the VDC Project Manager position at The Comfort Group?
The Comfort Group Incorporated, a Nashville based mechanical construction company, is looking for a full-time VDC Project Manager for our Nashville office.
The VDC Project Manager will be located at our Nashville office and will assist our Huntsville, AL office as needed.
SUMMARY OF JOB : The VDC Project Manager will review design intent contract documents or 3D design models of Plumbing, Mechanical and HVAC systems and create fabrication and installation Building Information Models (BIM’s) utilizing BIM fabrication modelling software.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : (include but are not limited to)
Lead a team in establishing Virtual Construction / BIM and prefabrication drawings for each project assigned.
Review contract documents thoroughly for all projects and recommend a strategy prior to modeling incorporating best practices, constructability, and cost effectiveness.
Collaborate with coordination and construction teams on selecting prefabrication opportunities.
Operate as the pre-construction project manager of BIM tasks, leading construction management and other internal / external stake holders to stay on schedule.
Work with Construction Teams to obtain information required for BIM, including, schedule coordination, design tasks, BIM reviews, and conducting site visits.
Manage multiple projects effectively working with multiple construction teams.
Coordinate with Project Teams regarding real time needs and changes to the Model.
Serve as quality control for any subcontracted design work. Confirm accuracy and adherence to contract documents.
Education and Experience :
3 or more years of experience with 3D modelling of mechanical or plumbing systems.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit and Autodesk Navisworks
Knowledge of Trimble Sysque or any other BIM related software is a plus
A working familiarity and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and ability to be trained in use of the Company-specific applications and software
