Title: Life Enrichment Coordinator
Reports to: Administrator
Department: Community Coordination/Recreation of Residents
Status: Exempt
Position Summary: The primary function of this position is to manage, organize and coordinate all aspects of recreational and spiritual activities in accordance all federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations which govern the facility, and, as directed by the Administrator so as to ensure the recreational needs of each resident is met in an enthusiastic, and orderly manner. This position establishes community relations to assure a safe, secure discharge to home, Personal care or other long-term care settings for Residents seeking discharge.
Education and Experience Requirements:
1. Two year degree in health related field or therapeutic recreation specialist, or, an activities professional who is licensed or registered, as applicable, by the state in which practicing, and, is eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or as an activities professional by a recognized accrediting body (on or after October 1st, 1990); or, as two years of experience in a social or recreational program within the past five years, one of which was full time in a patient activities program in a health care setting; or, is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; or, has completed a training course approved by the State.
2. Ability to read, write and speak English
3. Ability to follow oral and written direction.
Duties and Responsibilities- Life Enrichment Coordinator
General: 50%
1. Places necessary orders for supplies for the department and completes corresponding purchase orders.
2. Codes all accounts payable properly for timely processing.
3. Maintains department budgets within established parameters.
4. Completes all necessary paperwork and maintenance of records including but not limited to, weekly hours, budget variance reports, time studies, statistics, performance improvement, etc.
5. Reviews, revises and establishes new policies and procedures for the department.
6. Keeps apprised of new information in the field by attending seminars/affiliation meetings, reading related literature, etc, and as directed by the administrator.
7. Devises monthly calendars and coordinates resources for each event to take place
8. Is the liaison to the resident council.
9. Responsible for volunteer activities, including recruitment, orientation, assignments, and recognition.
10. Participates on the Interdisciplinary Care Committee
11. Provides assistance for activities/events to assure coverage during vacations, leaves, etc. of Activity Staffs
Administrative: 50%
1. Organizes and directs all functions of the activity department to meet the recreational and spiritual needs of each resident.
2. Supervises all personnel and their work.
3. Schedules staffing adequate to meet the needs of the residents and the facility on a continuum.
4. Conducts monthly staff meetings with staff.
Miscellaneous/Other (Exhibited 100%)
1. Assumes all other duties as assigned.
2. Maintains a professional, customer-oriented demeanor at all times.
3. Actively participates in all aspects of overall facility management and is thus cooperative with co-workers and peers.
4.Maintains confidentiality of information.
5.Represents the facility in a positive manner.
