Functional Area: Patient Care/Operational Excellence

Deliverables, Outcomes, and Expectations:
- Provides comprehensive and emergency dental services, including diagnosis/treatment plans, general restorative procedures, minor oral surgery, uncomplicated endodontics, and fixed and removable prosthodontic procedures as set forth by VV clinical guidelines and OSDB laws and rules.
- Review of patient vitals, health, medical, social history prior to care/treatment.
- Prescribe and interpret radiographs and lab studies.
- Make referrals to in-house services and/or to specialty care as appropriate.
- Provide dental and oral health education to patient and families.
- Ensure all patients enjoy a positive experience, and are treated with the care and compassion expected.
- Manage difficult clients and patients, demonstrating interpersonal savvy and influence skills.
- Exercise professional judgement in the performance of dental care/treatment provided consistent with VV policies/procedures and standards in dental care, QI activities, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Maintain standards set forth by the Dental Director/Director of Dental Operations regarding, but not limited to supplies, instruments, equipment, and scheduling to meet sufficient continuous quality assurance/improvement.
- Demonstrate high degree of knowledge and competency in the practice of dentistry and associated charting requirements.
- Prepare/confirm laboratory cases.
Functional Area: Clinical Resident Supervision

Deliverables, Outcomes, and Expectations:
- Supervision, instruction, and training of dental residents in a clinical setting.
- Clinical teaching with residents, students, and patients treated in the health center, ensuring continuity of patient care over the residency training period.
- Participate in didactic presentations of core curriculum as it relates to patient care.
- Ensure timely completion of resident clinical evaluations.
- Models and teaches evidence-based clinical practice, and assures utilization of services/resources.
- Supervises residents clinical training and assesses competency.
- Attends and participates in clinic conferences and case discussions.
- Reviews clinical documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Functional Area: Administrative/Continuous Quality Performance
Estimated Effort: 10%
Deliverables, Outcomes, and Expectations:
- Participates in the daily morning huddle.
- Provide leadership and direction to clinical supervision of dental hygienists, EFDAs, and dental assistants.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships and collaborations with other dentists and dental staff members. Ensure success of each clinic’s operations through collaborative support and working relationships.
- Effect overall clinical results. Meet or exceed all measurable standards of care, including overall clinical, quality, and productivity goals.
- Actively participate in community dental programs.
- Able to manage multiple responsibilities, and emergencies situations as necessary.
- Ensure duties are completed in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
