SUMMARY & ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES of Teacher I and II :
Assist Teacher I, II, III or IV with the performance of educational and non-educational functions. Does related work as required. Works with children and parents in the same manner under the guidance of the Education Coordinator
- Assists in the preparation of room and materials for classroom work
- Maintains the room equipment and materials
- Assist with the serving of meals and nutrition supplements and involved in mealtime with the child
- Assume responsibility under the guidance of the Lead Teacher in carrying out the education program
- Models positive work ethic for parents and staff
- Guides parents in classroom participation and observation
- Greets children and parents on arrival and escorts children to and from the bus
- Works closely and directly under the guidance of the Lead Teacher in performing tasks designated through joint planning with the Teacher
- In Early Head Start, acts as substitute for education staff during lunches, breaks, planning sessions, absences. Does related work as required by the agency in providing services to children and families
- Other related duties as assigned
Salary Information
16.00 USD Hourly Onwards
QUALIFICATIONS
Teacher I, II must have a child(ren) currently enrolled in the Head Start Program or had a child in the program during the previous school year; or be a relative of a Head Start child, a former Head Start employee or have experience working with young children and / or educational background in Education / Early Childhood. For Early Head Start, GED / High School Diploma required.
Classroom Substitutes with a child currently enrolled in Head Start preferred. Twenty (20) hours of classroom volunteer time and mandatory substitute training is prerequisite for this position.
For Early Head start, completion of Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, in infant development, within one year of date of hire required. This credential requires a GED / High School Diploma prerequisite.
Teacher II will have obtained CDA credential. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
