SUMMARY
Direct 21st Century Program classroom activities; is concerned with the health and safety of the children. Performs educational and non educational functions which contributes to the development of the child. The teacher works with children and parents and serves as a guide for team members involved and contributing to the development of the child.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Position is subject to the direction and guidance of the Program Coordinator. The incumbent directs all activities of the class room and assumes the leadership role in providing a conducive educational climate in the classroom; insures a healthy and safe facility, is concerned and involved in all services which contribute to the full development of the child. Performs educational work involving instruction of the children and reports to parents and Program Coordinator. Responsible for necessary records and related reports concerning children. Attends in-service training and meetings, which contribute to professional growth when requested to do so. Example of work :
- Greets children on arrival in the After-School Program.
- Insures a healthy and safe atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Responsible for total operation of all classroom activities.
- Develops and implements a daily and an overall instructional plan in conjunction with the team members and Program Coordinator.
- Guides and directs Tutors and Teacher Aides working in the program.
- Arranges for clearly understood distribution of responsibilities and serves as a guide in implementing responsibilities.
- Remains current with new education research and applies knowledge to the program, when found to be a positive educational trend in improving the quality of training for children.
- Responsible for keeping necessary records and report and evaluations concerning children.
- Provide student progress information to the Program Coordinator and Parents.
- Conducts required fire drill exercises and necessary emergency awareness training.
- Responsible for maintenance and cleanliness of classroom equipment and materials.
- Insures preparation of education materials required to implement daily activity plans and classroom work.
- Must participate in SES recruitment events during the school year.
- Assumes the leadership role in providing a conducive educational climate.
- Models positive work ethic for students and staff.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.

Teacher
B.S. in Elementary or Secondary Education with one year experience working with school aged children :
