Job Purpose:
Responsible for room set-ups, some cleaning, and grounds duties.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Supervise and set-up rooms in compliance with established TCH standards, Caterease, and customer input.
- Tear down room set-ups following event in a timely manner. Ensure rooms are cleared and cleaned.
- Experienced In A/V equipment, operations of lights and sound systems as required.
- Maintains excellent customer relations with staff, clients, and the public.
- Helps maintain physical condition of the building and grounds.
- Helps maintain cleanliness of all floors, carpeting, tile, wood, and slate.
- Maintains grounds as required by seasonal changes, including watering flowers and keeping sidewalks and terraces clear of debris and snow.
- Ensures clean rooms, hallways, stairs, and restrooms including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping.
- Provides security for the building by doing walkthroughs, inspecting windows, doors etc., during building hours and before closing the building.
- May have to open or close the building depending on schedule.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operates cleaning equipment, outdoor power tools, and A/V equipment.
- Cleans spills and accidents caused by guests and children.
- Attend all required staff meetings.
- Supports the mission of The Community House
Education, Job knowledge and Skills:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- High school degree preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to organize day to accomplish what needs to be completed by required deadlines.
- Able to operate several types of equipment including sound, A/V, vacuum, snow removal, and other tools as needed.
- Computer skills necessary to operate Caterease.
- Able to define problems and recognize solutions.
- Able to deal with and solve minor situations that may result in dissatisfied customers.
- Able to recognize situations requiring management intervention.
- Valid State of Michigan driver’s license.
Employee and Public Contact:
- Daily contact with staff guests, volunteers, teachers, and students.
- Works closely with customers and Community House Staff.
Physical Demands:
- Job requires standing, sitting, stooping, bending, crawling, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting 50 pounds.
- Walk to all areas of the building and grounds.
- Operate several types of equipment such as sound system, A/V equipment, power tools and adjust heating and cooling equipment.
Working Conditions and Environment:
- Works flexible schedule including days, evenings, and weekends to align with scheduled events at The Community House.
- Occasionally overtime required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
