What Your Internship Will Look Like At CPC
The intern will gain an understanding of the mechanics and structure of affordable housing financing, analytical skills, hand on experience through site visits, and working with a great team.
We are seeking an intern with a strong interest in talent acquisition and DEIB, who has research skills and the ability to analyze and synthesize information from diverse sources. The ideal candidate will also possess strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational abilities, and a keen attention to detail.
An ideal intern will be comfortable working with budget documents, legislative text, and quantitative data, with strong research and writing skills and the ability to distill big issues down into an easily digestible format.
The successful intern will have a desire to learn more about operations in the CDFI and housing finance industries. Their contributions will aid our team in identifying innovative solutions to existing challenges, while also making suggestions on how to improve operational efficiencies. The intern will collaborate with stakeholders to define and document technical requirements for business solutions. Analyze business processes, gather requirements, and create detailed specifications. Support development, testing, and implementation of new systems. Candidates should have a solid foundation in data analytics, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), effective communication skills, introductory knowledge of project management, and an interest in cross-departmental collaboration and the behind-the-scenes work that drives organizational success. Additionally, foundational data and business analytics skills, along with experience in data analysis tools (SQL, Tableau), knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall), exposure to project management tools (SmartSheets), and experience with CRM systems (HubSpot, Salesforce) are considered a plus.
General Field Office Responsibilities include performing market research for mortgage offerings and assisting Mortgage Officers with loan narratives, working on closing checklists with the Assistant Mortgage Officer to ensure closing packages contain accurate and consistent information, assisting with field office inspections of construction and renovation projects, performing credit and reference checks on borrowers and contractors, and performing other administrative duties as required.
The Climate Friendly Homes Fund provides financing for existing buildings in New York State with a focus on replacing older, less energy efficient systems with all-electric, high-performance heating, cooling, and hot water heating systems. With $250 million in New York State funding, CPC and New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) aim to finance electrification retrofits in at least 10,000 units of multifamily housing that serve economically disadvantaged communities. With this goal in mind, the intern will assist in building educational resources for building owners, developers, and contractors on heat pumps and electrification. The intern will also help with file management, marketing and outreach, loan underwriting, and overseeing projects in the pipeline.
Overall, the intern will gain experience in both affordable housing lending, as well as building sustainability and the energy transition. We are looking for an intern who is organized, has great communication skills, is open to learning, and is willing to collaborate with a team.
This is a full-time, hybrid intern program where you will work from our New York City office at least three days a week, with a remote option up to two days a week. $20 / hour pay rate, 35 hours / week.
During the application process you will be asked to indicate which function you are most interested in. Please indicate 1-3 areas that would be suitable for your interests and education focus.
