The Community Youth Program seeks a Program Coordinator. This is a full-time, salaried position working directly with youth. Job description is outlined below. Previous experience working with youth or in volunteer management is preferred. Bachelor’s degree required. Please send resume and three references to CYP .
Youth Development- Program
- Oversee and evaluate the daily activities of the CYP after-school and summer programs.
- Maintain current community partnerships and seeks new partnerships for student enrichment opportunities.
- Supervise students during field trips, games, structured programming, and tutoring.
- Plan and implement educational and enrichment opportunities for students, in conjunction with CYP Director.
- Attend and help facilitate CYP Family Night
- Coordinate and assist with transportation needs of the program and its students.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the Virginia SOLs and other educational systems to ensure that educational activities are in line with the students’ grade levels and academic goals.
- Coordinate food pickup, storage, and documentation as required by Feeding America Southwest Virginia.
- Maintain student files including- student roster, student daily attendance, parent pickup log, etc..
- Responsible for CYP enrollment paperwork including- creation of student enrollment packets, communication with families about their child’s enrollment, maintaining waitlist for students to enter the program.
Volunteer Management
- Responsible for volunteer recruitment, supervision, and evaluation.
- Plan, conduct, and evaluate volunteer trainings.
- Maintain volunteer records including- volunteer applications, reference checks, orientation/interview, background and MVR checks, volunteer training materials, and volunteer hour totals for each volunteer.
- Create, maintain, and disseminate volunteer schedules.
- Communicate with volunteers regarding volunteer needs of the organization.
Program Responsibilities
· Plan, conduct, oversee, and evaluate the daily activities of the CYP after-school and summer programs.
· Maintain current community partnerships and seek new partnerships for student enrichment opportunities.
· Retain current partnerships with Roanoke City Public School administrators.
· Supervise students during field trips, games, structured programming, and tutoring.
· Plan and implement educational and enrichment opportunities for students, in conjunction with CYP part-time staff and CYP Director.
· Attend and help facilitate quarterly CYP Family Nights.
· Coordinate and assist with transportation needs of the program and its students.
· Coordinate and attend periodic evening and weekend activities (ex. College field trips, partner activities)
· Maintain a working knowledge of the Virginia SOLs and other educational systems to ensure that educational activities are in line with the students’ grade levels and academic goals.
Administrative Responsibilities
· Coordinate food pickup, storage, and documentation as required by Feeding Southwest Virginia. Be able to transfer food boxes weighing 10-12 pounds from the conveyer belt to vehicle.
· Maintain student files including- student roster, student’s daily attendance, and schoolwork.
· Responsible for additional information/forms required for a CYP student to participate in community partner programs and field trips (example- participation with Family Service Roanoke Valley)
· Responsible for CYP enrollment paperwork including- creation of student enrollment packets, communication with families about their child’s enrollment, maintaining waitlist for students to enter the program.
· Attend continuing education opportunities as available.
· Assist in planning and implanting fundraising events.
· Produce social media content (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) and promote on a consistent basis.
· Manage CYP website and make changes as needed.

Pay: $28,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
