Job Summary The Connecticut Hospice, America's first hospice is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Associate Medical Director to help lead our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care, and healthcare management. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills who can assist with oversight of clinical practices, compliance and quality improvement initiatives. The Associate Medical Director will also be responsible for fostering a culture of excellence in patient care and supporting research initiatives within the organization, and make decisions in absence of the Medical Director.
Responsibilities
- Assist with oversight of the Inpatient Unit, Homecare, GUIDE and Palliative Care programs, and monitor clinical operations of the hospital to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that comply with HIPAA regulations and other healthcare standards.
- Supervise medical staff, providing guidance and support in clinical decision-making.
- Collaborate with management to enhance utilization management strategies and improve overall healthcare delivery.
- Lead research initiatives aimed at advancing medical practices and improving patient outcomes.
- Manage projects related to healthcare services, ensuring they align with organizational goals.
- Monitor clinical performance metrics and implement quality improvement programs as needed.
- In concert with the Medical Director, serve as a liaison between the hospital administration, medical staff, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Board certification in a relevant specialty is preferred.
- Hospice and Palliative care focused experience.
- Extensive experience in hospital settings with a focus on patient care and healthcare management.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with managed care principles.
- Proven experience in project management within a healthcare environment.
- Excellent supervisory skills with the ability to lead diverse teams effectively.
- Strong analytical skills to assess clinical data and drive decision-making processes.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient confidentiality and ethical practice.
