Summary of Responsibilities:
- Provide weekly employment support to youth and adults with disabilities which includes helping them prepare for, obtain, and maintain employment in southern Wood County, WI area
- Assist consumers with the following: career exploration and preparation, developing resumes/cover letters/reference lists, searching/applying for employment opportunities, preparing for and improving in their interviewing skills, communicating with potential employers, and understanding employer expectations and how to exceed them
- Establish relationships with local employers and school districts to help facilitate meaningful connections between people with disabilities and employment opportunities
- Coordinate job shadows and internship opportunities
- Understand, explain, and implement disability disclosure and accommodations to consumers and employers
- Outreach and advocate on behalf of consumers to potential employers
- Keep accurate and timely documentation of consumer interactions
- Maintain and submit monthly reports for each consumer on caseload
- Provide job coaching to consumers at their place of employment (15-20 hours/week)
- When job coaching, meet each consumer at their place of employment and work with the consumer for the assigned shift (typically 1-4 hours in length). The main responsibility while job coaching is to assist the consumer to learn their job tasks, increase their independence, and also to perform general work expectations (accepting feedback, asking for help, working efficiently and with proficiency, etc.).
Education/Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent, required
- 5 years of employment or volunteer experience working with or supporting people with disabilities, preferred
- Bachelor’s degree related to human services, special education, or rehabilitation, preferred
Requirements
Must be 18 years old to apply
- Valid Driver’s License, good driving record/insured vehicle for daily use, required
- Ability to pass a caregiver background check, required
- Access to a cell phone and ability to communicate via phone, text, and email in an efficient and professional manner
- Ability to model, demonstrate, and train various job duties and tasks to clients in various employment locations
- Ability to meet clients at school, at their place of employment, the library, or other public places as appropriate

Scheduling
- 32-40 hours/week
- This position is year round
- Typical hours are Monday-Friday between 8am-5pm, with occasional weekends and evenings
- Job Coaching assignments are published using an app called Homebase
Compensation Plan
90-Day Training Period
- $20/hour
- 40 hours of paid onboarding
- Unpaid time off as needed
- Shadow current job coaches and job developers on The Connection Co. Team
- Job coaching hours as assigned (approximately 15-20 hours/week)
- 2 hours per week ($20/hour) for each consumer on Job Development caseload, as caseload grows
Full-Time Caseload
- Once Job Development caseload reaches 12 consumers, compensation will shift to a salary of $40,000 annually. At this time PTO will also become available.
- The role will consist of:
o Supporting consumers on a Job Development caseload
o Job Coaching hours (15-20 hours/week) to maintain a balanced full-time workload
