: Director, Legal Operations

LINE OF BUSINESS/DIVISION: Legal

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Deputy General Counsel

NUMBER OF POSITIONS REPORTING TO THIS POSITION: None

LOCATION: Arlington, VA (minimum 3 days per week in office)


POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

The Director serves as the main liaison between the legal department and other TCF departments and programs, managing the timely and efficient delivery of legal services. The Director is responsible for operational and administrative support to the General Counsel and other legal staff, as needed, in connection with corporate compliance as well as acquisition, preservation and disposition of land for conservation purposes. The Director reports to the Deputy General Counsel but works as a team member with the entire legal department.

  • Coordinate closings of real estate transactions and manage the document management system related thereto.
  • Coordinate fee and easement monitoring and management issues with the legal department and field staff.
  • Assist with legal department management, including preparation of legal department budget, tracking expenses against budget, reviewing legal team workload, identifying needs, and recommending modifications.
  • Manage compliance with and updates to legal forms, including those on the Salesforce platform, manuals (including TCF’s Real Estate Manual), and procedures.
  • Analyze and identify deficiencies and inefficiencies and manage system/process improvement projects within the legal department, including the legal department’s use of Salesforce.
  • Manage the corporate compliance registrations and legal department’s compliance with internal policies.
  • Plan and implement special projects that are led by the legal department and assist with other cross-functional projects as required.
  • Manage contracts, renewals, invoices and licensing for legal department related applications and service providers.
  • Coordinate legal review of Capital Investment, Development, and Marketing materials with those departments.
  • Coordinate payment of real estate taxes.
  • Other duties as assigned.


WHAT WE NEED YOU TO HAVE

  • 5-10 years relevant legal or real estate experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in basic Salesforce administration and reporting.
  • Ability to build and forge strong relationships with internal and external team members while understanding their business objectives.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects of varied complexity utilizing cross-functional teams in multiple locations.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team navigating internal resources through risks, issues, challenges, and delays with minimal escalations.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; diligent and high attention to detail in completing responsibilities.
  • Ability to work with and take direction from a wide range of people.
  • Strong capability and initiative to complete projects without supervision.
  • Proficiency with data management systems (such as Salesforce), Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Adobe products.

WHAT WE’D LIKE YOU TO HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office setting.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings.
  • Estimated travel: 5-10 %


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $110,000 and the position is eligible for opportunities to earn performance-based bonus compensation. Please note: Salary range provided is an estimate and will be evaluated on an individual basis, taking into consideration the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and education. The final salary offer will be determined accordingly.
