LOCATION: Remote. Western-based location required, preferably near a major metropolitan airport
JOB HIGHLIGHTS
The Individual Giving Officer will work closely with the Strategic Giving team, Eastern field staff, and Marketing & Communications team on the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of individual donors in the Western region of the US, including the Pacific Coast, Mountain West and Southwest states. They will play an integral role in developing donors giving $1,000-$10,000 in general operating support, with a focus on moving qualified individuals into a major giving pipeline, as well as cultivating and stewarding a portfolio of $10K . We are looking for a creative self-starter with experience in donor cultivation, donor stewardship, and portfolio management and analysis.

- Develops, implements, and leads a successful and integrated donor relations program that strategically targets the major and mid-level donor cohorts, including establishing short term and long-term strategies.

Oversee and grow a portfolio of roughly 300 mid-level individual donors between $1,000-$10,000, as well as a portfolio of donors over $10,000, totaling $3M in national general operating annual support.
- Responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding this portfolio through personal visits, video calls, written content and events.
- Responsible for establishing and coordinating individualized stewardship plans for donors giving unrestricted gifts above $1,000.
- Responsible for executing a 'moves management' strategy to identify, cultivate, and solicit supporters capable of making four- to five-figure gifts.
- Manages relationships with donors to ensure the integrity of the donor and their wishes and to help inspire future giving.
- Creates and implements an innovative ‘personalized donor thank you’ program to thank and steward donors.
- Tracks donor relations and stewardship activities within established database to enhance relationships and increase the likelihood of continued contributions.
- Works closely with Strategic Giving staff to report on the use of gifts, communicate gift impact and celebrate contributions.
- Manage mid-level giving society and develop programming aimed at building stronger, deeper, relationships with our donors. Create giving society collateral materials that increase donor awareness and increasing levels of membership status.
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications department to ensure consistency with communications, messaging and solicitations.
WHAT WE NEED YOU TO HAVE
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive, successful fundraising/development experience with individual donors.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with donors
- Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Organized, detail-oriented, possessing a builder’s mentality and strong work ethic.
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills, including translating complicated project information into compelling and captivating stories.
- Experience with prospect research and data analysis.
- Ability to manage a high volume of donor interactions.
- Proficiency in donor relationship management (CRM) systems, including Salesforce experience.
- Strong understanding of fundraising principles and best practices.
- Ability and willingness to travel 15% of time.
- Passion and interest in the mission of The Conservation Fund.
WHAT WE’D LIKE YOU TO HAVE

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work is performed remotely from a home office.
- The position does require sporadically working long hours and/or weekends.
- Overnight travel is required.
- Estimated travel – 15%.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The salary range for this position is $80,000-$90,000, and the position is eligible for opportunities to earn performance-based bonus compensation. Please note: Salary range provided is an estimate and will be evaluated on an individual basis, taking into consideration the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and education. The final salary offer will be determined accordingly.
