What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Editor - Fact Checking position at The Consortium?
Research Editing (print, web, video, books and more) for many articles per week; review the organization's content for factual and contextual accuracy. Provides front-end research, resources and reporting as needed for writers and editors on selected content projects.Evaluates the organization's content for factual accuracy and verifies quotes and expert contributions.Highly skilled at gathering information from various sourcesAbility to translate very complex statistical and technical data into plain EnglishProvides recommendations and alternatives to editors to ensure factual accuracyExecutes front-end research for internal stakeholders on specified content projects and deliverablesCollaborates with internal stakeholders and other partners to ensure content aligns with the organization's priorities and mission, enterprise brand strategy and brand architectureProvides appropriate documentation of factchecking materials for archivingDemonstrate significant autonomy and possess expert knowledge of fact-checking best practices.Ability to maintain efficiency under pressure and to successfully prioritize assignments and deadlinesHas basic knowledge of Adobe InCopy, Microsoft Office and Lexis-Nexis; preferably using Macintosh. Track / monitor assignments through the production workflow.Experience working in the following subject areas : Medicare, Social Security, Health, Money, Elections.Experience working on national magazine, newspaper or website.
