You'll collaborate closely with homeowners, our production team, and trade partners to deliver creative and functional remodeling solutions that exceed expectations.

Who we are :

Founded in 1988, Thomas Buckborough & Associates (TB&A) is dedicated to delivering a superior home remodeling experience. We believe homeowners should expect sophisticated design, exceptional craftsmanship, and comprehensive project management all under one roof. As a premier integrated design-build firm in Boston's MetroWest, we create comfortable, functional, and timeless living spaces that enhance the quality of life at home. Our unique one-stop-shop approach eliminates the need for separate architects, kitchen designers, and contractors, ensuring a smooth and efficient remodeling process.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Design & Project Development

Lead homeowners through all phases of the design-build process, from Concept & Feasibility to Post-Design Follow-Up.

  • Measure and document existing conditions for remodeling projects.
  • Create innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing designs tailored to each homeowner's needs.
  • Prepare presentation drawings, 3D models, and construction plans using design software (Chief Architect experience preferred).
  • Assist in developing preliminary budgets and scope of work outlines.
  • Work closely with the production team and trade partners to refine project details.
  • Estimating & Pre-Construction
  • Conduct site inspections to assess feasibility for remodeling projects.

  • Perform accurate material take-offs and secure quotes from vendors / trades.
  • Develop and maintain detailed estimating systems for residential remodeling.
  • Ensure high-level accuracy in contract documentation and cost projections.
  • Coordinate with vendors for architectural and specialty material procurement.
  • Construction Coordination & Support
  • Transition projects from design to construction, ensuring all team members understand project plans and specifications.

  • Provide ongoing support to the production team and homeowners during construction.
  • Address on-site challenges and modifications, collaborating with Lead Carpenters and Production Managers.
  • Maintain detailed job site documentation and manage scope adjustments as needed.
  • The ideal candidate should possess :

  • 10 years of experience in residential remodeling, architecture, project design, or estimating.
  • Strong knowledge of home renovations, additions, and kitchen / bath design.
  • Proficiency in design software (Chief Architect preferred) and estimating tools.
  • Ability to produce construction plans, presentation drawings, and detailed specifications.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and CRM programs.
  • Deep understanding of wood-frame construction methods and remodeling best practices.
  • Excellent communication, client interaction, and leadership skills.
  • Valid driver's license for site visits.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • This is a hands-on role in a small boutique design-build firm-everyone wears multiple hats, so flexibility and a team-player mentality are essential!

    Benefits :

  • Vacation & Sick Days
  • 7 Paid Holidays
  • Health Insurance
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan
  • Mileage Reimbursement
  • Company Phone
  • Industry Education & Training Opportunities
  • Schedule :
