Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Financial Management & Accounting
- Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and job cost accounting.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Maintain job cost tracking systems to ensure accurate cost allocation and project profitability analysis.
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to leadership.
- Manage cash flow forecasting and provide recommendations for improving financial health.
- Oversee bank reconciliations, credit lines, and loan compliance.
- Process and manage AIA billing formats for progress billing and payment applications in commercial construction projects.
- Financial Strategy & Controls
- Develop and implement internal financial controls to safeguard company assets.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and state/local construction finance laws.
- Assist with financial planning and budgeting for long-term company growth.
- Work closely with project managers to monitor budget variances and improve cost efficiency.
- Lead the implementation and optimization of Buildertrend (or other construction accounting software) for accurate reporting and project tracking.
- Leadership & Collaboration
- Serve as a strategic financial advisor to the company leadership team.
- Collaborate with estimating, project management, and executive teams to align financial strategies with business goals.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, ensuring efficient financial operations.
- Work with external auditors, tax professionals, and financial institutions as needed.
- 5 years of experience in construction accounting, with experience in both residential and commercial construction.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred but not required).
- Experience with job costing, WIP reporting, and construction financial statements.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks is required.
- Experience with AIA billing format is required.
- Proficiency in construction accounting software (Buildertrend, Sage, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and lien laws related to construction.
- Experience managing financial audits, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
