This position requires a deep understanding of wood-frame construction methods, the ability to draw detailed framing plans and building sections, and the skill to think through creative building construction details.The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for structural integrity, understanding what is holding up a house when walking into it. Our unique one-stop-shop approach eliminates the need for separate architects, kitchen designers, and contractors, ensuring a smooth and efficient remodeling process.Responsibilities include but are not limited to : -Design & Project Development-Lead homeowners through all phases of the design-build process, from Concept & Feasibility to Post-Design Follow-Up.-Measure and document existing conditions for remodeling projects, understanding structural elements and potential challenges.-Create innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing designs tailored to each homeowner's needs.-Draw detailed framing plans, building sections, and construction details to ensure structural integrity and practical implementation.-Prepare presentation drawings, 3D models, and construction plans using design software (Chief Architect experience preferred).-Collaborate with the production team and trade partners to refine project details, ensuring a smooth transition from design to construction.-Assist in developing preliminary budgets and scope of work outlines.-Estimating & Pre-Construction-Conduct site inspections to assess feasibility for remodeling projects, identifying structural considerations and potential challenges.-Perform accurate material take-offs and secure quotes from vendors / trades.-Develop and maintain detailed estimating systems for residential remodeling.-Ensure high-level accuracy in contract documentation and cost projections.-Coordinate with vendors for architectural and specialty material procurement.-Construction Coordination & Support-Transition projects from design to construction, ensuring all team members understand detailed structural plans and specifications.-Provide ongoing support to the production team and homeowners during construction, addressing on-site challenges and modifications.-Collaborate with Lead Carpenters and Production Managers to ensure design intent and structural integrity are maintained throughout construction.-Maintain detailed job site documentation and manage scope adjustments as needed.The ideal candidate should possess : -10 years of experience in residential architecture, remodeling and project design.-Strong knowledge of wood-frame construction methods, structural design, and remodeling best practices.-Proven ability to draw detailed framing plans, building sections, and construction details.-Proficiency in design software (Chief Architect preferred) and estimating tools.-Experience in producing construction plans, presentation drawings, and detailed specifications.-Excellent communication, client interaction, and leadership skills.-Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.-Valid driver's license for site visits.Benefits : -Vacation & Sick Days-7 Paid Holidays-Health Insurance-401(k) Retirement Plan-Mileage Reimbursement-Company Phone-Industry Education & Training OpportunitiesSchedule : -8 hour shift-Monday to FridayWork Location : Our primary service area is within the towns of Sudbury, Lexington, Lincoln, Concord, Carlisle, Lexington, Weston, Acton, and Harvard, and all over the Boston MetroWest.Why Join Us?At TB&A, we don't just design and build homes-we build careers.
