Purpose Of This Position
An apprentice electrician is an entry-level electrical trainee to learn the concepts and skills necessary to become a certified electrician. An Electrical Apprentice plays a pivotal role in the field of electrical work, blending hands-on experience with formal education to develop the skills necessary for a successful career as a licensed electrician. Under the guidance of experienced journeymen and master electricians, apprentices engage in a variety of tasks that encompass the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. This often includes working on wiring projects, setting up electrical panels, troubleshooting faults, and ensuring that all work adheres to local electrical codes and safety standards. Apprentices need to be able to act on the instructions from a supervisor and work well alone or as members of a team.

- Assists electricians with installing and maintaining electrical and power systems.
- Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit, using measuring instruments and hand tools.
- Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment and keep parts and supplies in order.
- Perform semi-skilled and unskilled laboring duties related to the installation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of electrical systems and equipment.
- Disassemble defective electrical equipment, replace defective or worn parts, and reassemble equipment, using hand tools.
- Thread conduit ends, connect couplings, and fabricate and secure conduit support brackets, using hand tools.
- Examine electrical units for loose connections and broken insulation and tighten connections, using hand tools.
- Advanced knowledge in the installation of EMT conduit and MC style cabling
- Drill holes and pull or push wiring through openings, using hand and power tools.
- Dig trenches or holes for installation of conduit or supports.
- Strip insulation from wire ends, using wire stripping pliers, and attach wires to terminals for subsequent soldering.
- Trace out short circuits in wiring, using a test meter.
- The ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Knowledge of basic wiring methods
- Knowledge of basic hand tools and drill sets
- Understands the national electrical code pertaining to electrical construction.
- Work with contractors and other tradesmen
- Ability to work off a scissor lift, aerial lift and ladder.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- 1 years of work experience in a construction environment with a focus on electrical work
- Regular and reliable attendance required
- Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment criminal, driving and drug screen.
- Must have a valid state driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Must have own tools and personal protective equipment.
- Ability to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends and holidays (as required)
- Must have OSHA10 certification.
