Service Technician

The Service Technician will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of component cable, category cable, fiber, wireless access points, cameras, access control devices, and other low voltage cabling and devices with or without direct onsite supervision.

Essential Functions

• Install, Service and Maintain of various access control devices and electrified door hardware
• Install, Service and Maintain various cameras
• Install, Service and Maintain cable pathway systems to support security and network systems
• Maintain company-owned equipment
• Work in a team environment with other service team members
• Observe all safety rules and best practices
• Perform other duties, as required
• Shall demonstrate a willingness to learn and work well within a team environment
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience as an AV Service Technician.
• AVIXA CTS
• Advanced troubleshooting and repair skills with commercial AV systems, including but not limited to:
• DSPs (Biamp, QSC, BSS)
• Control systems (Crestron, AMX, Extron)
• Video conferencing systems (Zoom Rooms, Microsoft Teams Rooms, Cisco)
• Display technologies (LED walls, projectors, LCD panels)
• Audio systems (amplifiers, speakers, microphones)
• Proficient in reading and interpreting signal flow diagrams, line drawings, and architectural plans.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals as they relate to AV systems (e.g., IP addressing, VLANs, PoE).
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues onsite and remotely.
• Comfortable with service documentation, ticketing systems, and customer communication.
• Experience with both preventative maintenance and emergency service calls.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Strong leadership presence, with the ability to mentor junior technicians.
• Hold a valid driver’s license
• Be at least 21 years old to operate company vehicles
• Successfully pass a background check and drug screen
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• AVIXA CTS-I certification (CTS-D a plus)
• Manufacturer certifications (Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Shure, etc.)
• OSHA-30 or equivalent safety training
• Experience in enterprise/corporate, higher ed, or government AV environments
  
  

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Ability to read and use a measuring tape, level and other required tools for installation required
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including external and internal communication (written and verbal)skills
• Demonstrate a desire to learn the industry that C&B serves
• Willing and able to work a flexible schedule when required to meet our customer’s needs (nights, weekends, over-night, etc.)
• Comfortable with heights, such as working a ladder and/or aerial man-lift
• Present oneself in a professional and neat manner
• Solid organization, attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
• Excellent written and verbal skill required with the ability to communicate and understand detailed instructions
  
  

Physical Demands

Spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands and reaching. Spends approximately 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing. Frequent lifting required of items 25-50 pounds.

Work Environment

May require driving to project sites. May be exposed to variable weather conditions. Other conditions may include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Worker is subject to frequent heavy lifting.
