The Physical Security Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and support of physical security systems, including access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection systems. This role will involve significant system design expertise using various solutions to meet customer needs, post-sales project execution and troubleshooting of customer systems as needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physical security systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical personnel.
Essential Functions
Pre-Sales & Systems Design (Primary responsibility)
Collaborate with the sales team to understand customer requirements and propose tailored security solutions
Develop detailed system designs, schematics and submittals drawings
Create equipment lists and Bill of Materials (BOM)
Conduct site surveys to assess customer needs and gather necessary information for accurate system design
Provide technical presentations and demonstrations to prospective clients to showcase our solutions
Assist in responding to RFPs and RFQs with comprehensive technical documentation
Design and engineer physical security systems and other network infrastructure that support it
Interface with product and distribution partners to obtain systems, device, design specifications and equipment pricing
Organize solution reviews and internal technical meetings
Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required
Project Implementation
Support in post-sales process and design reviews to ensure they meet specifications and customer expectations
Support project managers during implementation by providing technical guidance
Install and configure servers, cameras, controllers and other network devices
Perform system commissioning and customer training sessions
Service Support
Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to customers to resolve issues with installed systems
Conduct remote and on-site diagnostics to identify and rectify system faults
Work closely with the service team to ensure timely and effective resolution of customer issues
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree, or an equivalent combination of 3 years of security engineering experience
Current and valid US driver’s license
At least 2 years in a pre-sales support/estimating role with access control and CCTV/IP video surveillance
At least 2 years of installation and configuration experience on access control systems and CCTV/IP video surveillance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Understanding of server, storage, and networking architectures
The ability to work in a dynamic team environment with expanding customer base
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision
Ability to manage deadlines and have excellent follow-up skills to drive tasks to completion
Must be professional and polished in appearance and be comfortable speaking to small groups of managers and technical and/or facility personnel
[Preferred] CAD and or BlueBeam experience
[Preferred] Vendor certifications: Avigilon, Milestone, Genetec & Lenel
[Preferred] Knowledgeable on Cloud Solutions, Network Switches and Communication Systems
Physical Demands
Spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands and reaching. Spends approximately 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing. Frequent lifting required of items 25-50 pounds.
Work Environment
May be exposed to variable weather conditions. Other conditions may include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Worker may be subject to frequent heavy lifting.
