Copper River Technologies is seeking an experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our team in Quantico, VA. The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator will operate the wastewater treatment plant and the wastewater collection system to meet all established regulations and guidance. This position performs operator level maintenance and preventive maintenance work.
This position is designated as Mission Essential and required to report for duty or held in a duty status to provide support before, during, and / or after special emergency situations, such as, but not limited to, destructive weather, disasters, or periods of an increased security threat. The candidate may be required to carry a duty cell phone.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to) :
- Perform primary wastewater treatment and monitor wastewater treatment equipment and gauges
- Adjust wastewater treatment process pumps and control valves
- Controls and maintains current status on operating and emergency conditions throughout the system
- Controls the flow of wastewater from various pumping stations, increasing or decreasing according to inflow demands
- Perform testing to determine biochemical oxygen demand, suspended solids, dissolved solids, and dissolved oxygen
- Monitor and adjust chemical agent usage based upon test results
- Selects and mixes chemical compounds in correct amounts and feeds into the equipment in correct quantities and sequence
- Adjusts equipment to regulate chemical input as well as wastewater flow
- Perform secondary wastewater treatment by operating wastewater treatment equipment such as aeration tanks, sand filters, and clarifiers to properly separate settleable matter from the liquid and process non-settling solids through secondary stage equipment
- Operate rapid mix chambers and return activated sludge pumps
- Operates settling tanks to remove and retain settleable solids
- Treat industrial wastewater by removing nitrogen, phosphorous, soluble chemicals, oils, and heavy metals such as copper and chrome
