QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates Degree in Radiology Technology and current ARRT certification.
- Current state and ARRT certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Two - four years of experience with special procedures in a hospital or clinic environment.
- Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA rules and regulations related to Radiology and health care.
- Knowledge of routine fluoroscopy and examinations of the head and extremities under the supervision of a physician.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Determines the patient's x-ray needs by reading requests or instructions from the physicians.
- Assists the physicians or other Rad Techs in the performance of more complex procedures.
- Positions the patient on the examining table and sets up and adjust equipment to obtain an optimum view of a specific body area as requested by the physician.
- Explain procedures to the patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
- Collect and maintain records of patients examined, examinations performed and patient medical histories, views taken and technical factors used.
- Prepares and sets up the x-ray room for the patient. Assures that sterile and non-sterile supplies are present and in working order.
- Positions the x-ray equipment and adjusts the controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance.
- Completes quality control activities, monitors equipment operation, and reports equipment issues to the manager.
- Coordinate the work of other Rad Techs when procedures require more than one person.
The Special Procedures Radiology Technologist, Pool is responsible for performing radiology procedures to include operating the X-ray equipment and the C-arm.
