What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teaching Assistant (TA) position at The CORE Project, Inc.?
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Delivery of services directly to students and assist in daily activity schedules.
- Effectively perform each student's behavior plan and procedures.
- Communicate student's progress with supervisors, colleagues, and parents.
- Participate in all trainings and staff meetings.
- Maintain engagement with students at all times.
- Maintain adequate upkeep of the cleanliness and organization of the classroom.
- Manage crisis' using Professional Crisis Management (PCM) that includes procedures like (1) lifting and lowering patients to and from the ground; (2) physically controlling a patient while kneeling and standing; (3) intercept thrown objects toward yourself or themselves; (4) and physically moving patients who are in a crisis situation; (5) any physical procedure that is approved by the Professional Crisis Management Association (PCMA).
- Fulfillment of any additional tasks requested by the Teacher or Director with a student-first mindset
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of a high school diploma
-Experience working with children and young adults diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or other special needs.
- Professional Crisis Management (PCM) Certification (preferred but not required)
- CPR/ First Aid Certification (preferred but not required)
Training will be provided by The CORE Project, Inc. for any certifications not yet acquired (i.e. PCM, CPR, and/or First Aid).
PREFERRED SKILLS
- ABA therapy experience is valued; however, it is not required.
- Adequate written and verbal skills along with experience taking behavioral data.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $11.00 - $14.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
