Shift: Monday-Friday and 1 Weekend Shift a Month

Specific Job Responsibility:

As part of a team providing 24/7 coverage to a hospital switchboard the Switchboard Operators links external and internal callers to the appropriate resources.

Job Description/Requirements:

• Manage a single-position telephone switchboard/console, used with a private branch exchange (PBX) system.  
• Respond to all of the incoming calls and internal communications through use of a console-driven range of codes.
• Serve as a resource to caller, determine nature of call and direct the call to the appropriate department. 
• The ability to learn a specific protocol for handling emergencies and other notifications and demonstrate ability to perform these tasks is required. 
• Record and transmit messages; keep records of calls placed; provide information to callers.
• The ability to work in a fast paced environment, managing multiple callers simultaneously.
