Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Pit Master to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and handling, with a particular focus on grilling and smoking techniques. As a Pit Master, you will be responsible for crafting delicious barbecue dishes while ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of meats using grilling, smoking, and roasting techniques.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area, adhering to food safety standards.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
  • Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure optimal flavor and texture.
  • Assist in menu planning and recipe development for barbecue dishes.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques and food handling practices.
  • Manage inventory of ingredients and supplies, ensuring freshness and quality.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with guests about menu items.

Experience

  • Proven experience as a Pit Master or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant or catering environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food handling practices, culinary techniques, and food safety regulations.
  • Experience with various cooking methods including grilling, smoking, and roasting is essential.
  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment such as smokers, grills, knives, and other culinary tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining individual accountability.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer satisfaction.
