Job Status: Salaried/Non-Exempt
This is a full-time Peer Engagement Specialist position, as outlined by NYS OASAS. This position offers a competitive salary and benefits such as PTO, paid holidays, mileage reimbursement, and insurance options. Professional training and certifications are available through the organization. This position is subject to background screening, fingerprinting, and random drug testing.
Job Duties & Requirements:
· Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA)/CARC credentials with both professional and lived recovery experience (personal and/or family) are preferred
· Must have excellent communication skills: verbal, written, and digital
· Travel is required (area of focus will include Dutchess and Putnam County)
· Must be comfortable being inside of a hospital and navigating the hospital system
· Knowledge and experience with re-entry populations (jail/rehab)
· Ability to maintain documentation for program reporting (logic model/outcome)
· Recoveree files should document each visit, the duration of the visit, the purpose of the service, the development of a recovery plan, and follow up
· Ability to engage systems, individuals, and families in pathways to sustainable recovery
· Function independently and judiciously in the development of an emerging field of recovery
· Assist with development of a strong recovery community where individuals and families have access to multiple pathways of recovery
· Must act as an ambassador for the agency, with enthusiasm to establish and grow a new initiative
· Able to provide an array of services (including by not limited to): develop of recovery plans, raise awareness of support services, model coping skills, assist with application for benefits, provide non-clinical support, help recoveree identify strengths, link them to formal recovery supports, educate recoveree on mode of recovery, assist with the supports necessary to lead individuals and families to their path of recovery and health and wellness
Other Requirements:
Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
Successful experiences with individuals/families in recovery
Professionalism – maintaining a professional image, punctuality, positive attitude
Excellent organization skills
Demonstrated skills in successful navigation of systems
Knowledge of Dutchess County human services network
Demonstrated initiative in program implementation
Knowledge of ATOD-G hazards
Proficiency with technology (skill using Microsoft programs and Apple iPhones is preferred)
Comfortable with moderate activity levels (walking or standing for long periods of time)
Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds
Bilingual preferred (but not required)
