Hours: 20 to 40 Hours 

Status: Intern, non-paid 

Location: Houston, TX
 

THE ROLE 

The Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern (LCDC-I) position focuses on building clinical skills and helping new clinicians find their clinical voice. The LCDC-I will have opportunities to provide individual and group psychotherapy. Learning opportunities include didactic courses, clinical staffing, individual supervision, as well as hands on opportunities to observe and practice. The LCDC-I is thought of as a practitioner-scholar and is expected to be an ambassador for the agency. Their work will reflect our high standards for clinical practice, our connection to the local community, and our commitment to ongoing education and training.

 
 

CLINICAL OPPORTUNITIES 

  •  Co-facilitation of psychoeducation and process group for Discovering Choices Outpatient Program (IOP)
  • Development of Treatment Plans and Treatment Plan Reviews
  • Individual sessions
  • Clinical Assessment, Diagnosis, and Treatment

Requirements

  • Relevant Licensure LCDC-I required
  • Experience with substance use assessment and treatment (individual, group and family) a plus
  • Understanding of DSM 5 diagnostic criteria for substance use disorder and mental health disorders
  • Computer skills--Microsoft Suite and data entry experience

 This is an intern, non-paid position.
